Jake & Mallory are both now walking more than they're crawling, which is making life exhausting for Mommy & Daddy, but it's fun. They never seem to want to perform when I have the camera out, so these videos are the best I've gotten so far. These were only taken a week ago, but it's already amazing to me to watch them because they've improved so much in a week. Enjoy!

Business as Usual
I haven't posted much lately because we just haven't had a whole lot going on. Don't get me wrong, we're always busy, but it's sort of just been "same old, same old" if you know what I mean. Here are a few shots of my cuties from recent days.
Jake enjoying a snack picnic in my bedroom floor since he was up from his nap before Mallory. Mommy got to watch TV & fold laundry, & Jake got to eat on the floor - everybody wins!On this particular evening, Jake was not too happy about the grass tickling his toes...
...but he enjoyed the outdoors from Daddy's arms.
This is a new obsession with both of my kids, but Jake especially. It's a mad dash to load or unload the dishwasher before they notice & decide to help.
Their almost daily game of peekaboo through the window
When Jake gets bored with his meal, food ends up in all kinds of places, usually including the top of his head.
Big boy in Daddy's boots
Why hold your sippy cup when you can just prop it on the tray & lean down for a drink?
Also a common site in my kitchen - someone pushing around the red stool. Unfortunately, they don't slow down if their sibling is in the way. Maybe we need to practice our "Roll the Gospel Chariot" song (if a sister's in the way, we will stop & pick her up).
Here's one reason I'm so excited for fall: my babies looking all grown up with pants & shoes on. It just doesn't get much cuter than this! The only bad thing is that my kids are just a tad (or a lot) on the short side, so all of their pants are way too long.
Stay tuned for walking videos!

Out With the White!
While I am definitely ready for some cooler temperatures & fun fall clothes, Labor Day always makes me a little sad because I say goodbye to white pants, skirts, handbags & shoes. I think their winter hiatus makes me like them more, though. When Easter rolls around the next year, I'm always excited to see my little white friends again.
Today, however, I discovered a new white thing that is definitely a foe, not a friend. I had a...wait for it...white hair! My hair stylist gleefully plucked it from the back of my head today & showed it to me as he was cutting my hair. What?! Why on earth do I have white hair? "I'm 25!" I exclaimed several times, as if the sheer ridiculousness of having white hair at 25 would make it disappear. I promptly made him check for more, & he assured me that it was indeed a lone ranger. I laughed it off while I was there, but seriously, I don't know if I can handle this. It wasn't even a gray hair. It went one smug step further & decided to be WHITE of all colors. I have informed my hair that white is "so last season" & told it to stick to earth tones, so we'll see if it listens.

Summer Wrap-Up
I have an assortment of random pictures from this summer that I never posted, so this will be my catch-all post. Enjoy the cuteness!
Jake & Mal's first spaghetti dinner
Just a cute girl in her swing
Mommy's girl
Tired Jake
Hmm...I see a pattern
Kaela came to hang out with us one night while J was gone. The kids had lots of fun with KK!
Nana came to keep the kids one day while I was working at the church & brought some helpers with her. Mackenzie (in this pic) & Morgan used to be my babysitting charges long ago.
Morgan & Jake
We also got to enjoy a short visit with Aunt Debbie & Uncle David. The kids managed to convince us to forgo their normal bedtime so they could see them that night.
We also had a fun play date with Ranger & his mommy, Miranda. I didn't get a picture of his smile, but he smiles constantly & it is so cute!
A true little lady - no dress but at least we have a bow!
Where's Jake? Can you find him?
There he is!
Getting hugs from Nana when she came to town for Women of Faith
Laurie (Morgan & Mackenzie's mom), Mom, me & Karen at Women of Faith. By the way, we had a great time & I have tickets reserved for next year if anyone is interested in going.
My favorite little blue cow
Mal as an Indian princess, courtesy of the strawberry she managed to stick to her forehead
Does it make having a rat tail less trashy if you put a bow in it?
I'm not sure what Jake was trying to do here, but this is just one example of his randomness. He spent several minutes just rubbing these toys all over the wall. Crazy kid!
See? I told you it was random!

The Blame Game
These onesies are my new favorite thing that we own. How cute are they?! Thank you, Ashley, for sending them! I'm sure we'll have lots of finger pointing & blame-shifting in the years to come. They only look innocent!By the way, did you notice the matching bruises they have on their heads in the above picture? Apparently, twins really do get into the same kind of trouble! No, seriously, we've just had an exorbitant amount of falls, bumps & trip-ups lately. Jake is walking but is very unstable, & he was actually to blame for both of their catastrophes, which happened separately.

I See You!
This picture shows a common pastime for the twins. They love to look through the glass at each other.Really, they just love each other. I have been so surprised & blessed by the "twin connection" that they share, even at this young age. They are truly best friends & just light up at the sight of each other. We have our fair share of squabbles, too, but at the end of the day, they are each other's favorite playmate.

Good Clean Fun
With all of the fancy toys & gadgets that every family owns to keep their kids entertained, it's always the boring, non-toy items that do the trick. Take these pillows, for example. I bought new pillows for my bed recently & let the kids play with them before I removed the plastic packaging (don't worry - I was supervising). You would have thought I'd bought them each their very own pony!Notice the other non-toy that's visible in this pic: an old Blackberry of J's.
The latest favorite at our house is diapers. I promise we only let them play with the clean ones! Jake & Mal carry diapers around the room & up the stairs with them. They scrub the floor with them, wave them in the air & have a grand ole time. Seriously, I don't get it.
This scene plays out in my kitchen at least three or four times a day. I'm sick of cleaning up the mess, & I know I could avoid it by moving the basket out of their reach, but it does keep them entertained while I clean up. Sometimes, that's priceless!
Witness it for yourself!
