Caution: You're in the Splash Zone

No one is safe from either being sprayed by Daddy or splashed by the kids!
Serious splashing requires serious evening refreshments.  Homemade ice cream, anyone?

See the Little Fishies Swim, Swim, Swim

Jake & Mallory just finished their first session of swimming lessons.  We went with Paige's Swim School in Plano & did classes once a week for seven weeks.  They have really enjoyed the lessons & seem to be picking up several of the basics that Paige worked on with them.

One thing I really liked about this swim school (in addition to the price, which was much better than others I checked into) was the small class size.  Paige only takes four kids for each class & does all of the instructing herself, so each kid gets plenty of one-on-one attention.

That's Jake's little head in front of her as he swims under the water.
Jake, Mallory & our new friend, Cason
Mallory chillin' on "the island," which was a PVC & mesh structure where the kids could wait when it wasn't their turn.
These are blurry since they're from my phone, but here's Ms. Paige with the whole class hanging on for a game of "Tick Tock!"  Mal & Jake loved to jump around & splash on the island while others were having a turn.  This was great except for the time that Jake decided to let go of the bar while practicing going under on his own.  He definitely jumped off of the island & had to be rescued, but Ms. Paige was quick to grab him & all was well.

I'm hoping that we can get in some more lessons once our busy month of June is done.  If you're looking for a swim school in the area, check out Paige's!

No Back Neighbors = Good Thing

Scenes like this are pretty common around our house, so it's nice to have no neighbors behind the house to witness it.  Especially since public urination is often involved as well.  :)

Sad Day for This Mommy

Even though it's been happening for a while, today confirmed once again that my big boy is just that.  He's no longer a baby or a little kid in any way, shape or form.  Today was his last day to wear a "sweet little boy outfit," as I call them.  Mimi bought him this john john for Christmas.  I saved it for spring since it had shorts & short sleeves, but he's grown so much since he got it that this will be its only wear with this boy.  Contrary to his face in this picture, he actually liked it & was sad to take it off because he liked the trains.

I know this style is not for every mom.  That's okay, I'm sure we all have our list of things we don't go for with our kids' clothing.  But I love, love, love sweet little boy clothes.  However, even I have to admit that Jake just didn't look quite right in them today.  Sigh.
Thankfully, I still have one baby boy who looks rather dapper in this style of duds.  And it will be a long time before twirly skirts, ruffles & big bows are too young for my sweet girl!

Chi-WHO?-ly

Last week, Beau & I joined some friends at the Arboretum while the big kids were in school to see the Chihuly exhibit.  I'm certainly not on the up and up in the art world; I had no clue who Dale Chihuly was prior to this.  But his sculptures were amazingly beautiful, so now I'm a fan!

Beau & Lainey just happened to call each other before our outing & coordinate their clothing.
Sweet Finley was a trooper & slept through much of our time there.
Now on to the sculptures...

I think these boats were my favorites!

The exhibit will be at the Arboretum until November.  If anyone else wants to take a look, we'd love to come along!

A Camping We Will Go

Jake & Mallory's spring program for Sunshine School was last night.  They had so much fun being little campers & singing all of their camping songs. This is our fourth program, but it was the first time that they actually sang!  We usually have some sort of catastrophe or meltdown with one of the kids, so I was so proud of them for getting up there & performing.
You can barely see Jake's "bear claws" behind his friend, Johnny.  He loved that part of the song!
Jake & Mal with Miss Jennifer, who they've really enjoyed being in class with.  I can't believe they'll be in a FOUR-year-old class when school starts again!

It's All About Me

Mother's Day, that is!  What job could be better than hanging out with these cuties?

After attending church together this morning, we enjoyed a great lunch at home.  Daddy grilled so I didn't have to work too hard.  The kids, with the help of their daddy, gave me some sweet new kicks, & I also got to enjoy a pedicure this afternoon.  I am one blessed mommy!
Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms in my life!

Funny Faces with Food

Our kids are excellent at expressing themselves.  You can read their faces like little books, & some of the funniest faces occur during meal time.  Here are a few of late:
