Home Sweet Home

I can't believe our twins are already six days old! I meant to get an update on here sooner to let everyone know that we were home but just hadn't gotten around to it yet. These first two pictures are of a couple of very important people who helped get the babies into this world & off to a good start. Above is Dr. Bertrand, my OB. He is absolutely wonderful & made me feel very comfortable about everything leading up to delivery. By the way, someone asked for a mommy update in addition to all the info about the babies, so I'll give that. I am doing fabulous & am recovering well. I really didn't know what to expect with the surgery since I haven't had any kind of surgery before, but it actually didn't hurt as much as I had expected, & I'm bouncing back quickly. I will go back to Dr. Bertrand on September 25th for my six week check-up.

This is the twins' favorite nurse, Amanda. She was with them three out of the four nights that we were in the hospital & was so helpful. I didn't get pictures of any of our other nurses, but they were all so great. The lactation consultants were especially wonderful & really helped me to feel like I was doing everything I needed to for the babies.

Here we are just before heading home. I was amazed at how long it took us just to get them dressed & ready to leave. At that point, Mallory was requiring two T-shirts underneath her outfit to keep her warm, so she sort of looked like she had football pads on with all that extra fabric around her shoulders.
Here's a better shot of the outfits. Janie & Jack has a great selection of preemie sized clothing, so that's where I found these. Jake launched his sock off of his foot right before we snapped the picture, so that's why it's by Mallory's head.
Justin had some fun staging these next two pics. My friend Miranda, whom I've known since 3rd grade, gave these monkeys to our "little monkeys." The twins love them, of course, but I think J may like them even more. Here's Mallory chillin' with her monkey friend.
And Jake, pondering life's complexities with a hand on his chin while the monkey listens intently.
I'll post more soon. We have plenty of great photo ops around here!

You have the cutest family! I still can't believe how many pounds of baby you were carrying! You're little ones look amazing, and so do you. Keep up the good work and try to get some rest for the new mom. I am in awe, you are making this look much easier than I know it is. Congrats again!
