Such Big Kids!

Jake & Mallory are getting so big (speaking relatively, of course)! They now get to have big kid baths since their cords fell off this week. They actually liked it better than sponge baths & didn't cry very much. I'm sure it's much warmer for them this way. Here's Mallory: And Jake:
We went to the pediatrician yesterday for their two-week appointment, & they are both growing! Jake now weighs 6 lb 2 oz (5th percentile) & is 19 inches long (10th percentile). His head measures in the 15th percentile. They had to get their heels pricked for their PKU screening, & they were NOT happy about that. Look how pathetic his little foot looks with that huge band-aid on it!Mallory gave the nurses her best "Why are you torturing me?" scream. She now weighs 5 lb 3 oz (-3rd percentile) & is 18 1/4 inches long (-3rd percentile). Her head measures in the 8th percentile. Here they are in their cute outfits, ready to go see Dr. Halsell.
Just a cute shot of my three favorite people:Aren't they precious?J & I celebrated our first two weeks' success with a dinner out at Pappasito's. Nana was sweet to watch the munchkins for us. When we got home, we all went for our first walk around the neighborhood with the babies. J & Nana figuring out how it all fits together:
They could hardly contain their excitement!

Tummy Time!

**Updated with Mallory's tummy time video, which I just found. It's right below Jake's.**

We have started having a few minutes of tummy time for each baby in the evenings. They either get really mad or they just fall asleep. Oh well! Here is a short video of Jake's tummy time. I thought I took one of Mallory as well, but apparently it didn't work properly because it's not on the camera. There's really not much that goes on in the video, but the grandparents like to see them as much as possible, so I'll go ahead & post it.

Hanging out with Daddy during tummy time. Mallory refused to show me her face. The rest of these pictures are just some random cute ones we've gotten lately. Paige brought dinner for us on Tuesday & held Jake for a while. He definitely has a new friend!
I went to get them up for the 7 am feeding the other day & found this cute photo op. So precious! They both played in the activity gym for a long time this afternoon. It's amazing to me how long they can be entertained by this thing, but I'm not going to complain! This was a couple of nights ago as we were getting ready for bed & reading a story. I love these little sleepers & hats I found at Babies 'R Us.

Jake's cord fell off on Tuesday, & Mallory's finally came off today, so we get to have our first real bath (not a sponge bath) tonight. I'm sure it will be exciting! We also go back to the pediatrician tomorrow, so I can't wait to see how much they've grown.

There's a first time for everything...

As you might imagine, there are lots of firsts happening at our house these days, for both the babies & the parents. Jake & Mallory had their first baths at home on Wednesday of last week, & neither of them liked it very much. Here's Jake demonstrating his lung capacity:
Mallory cried too but resigned herself to her fate after a few minutes.
Here's Jake's first bath experience, with instruction by Mimi:

Immediately after this bath, Jake blessed me with a first as a mommy: getting peed on. I was drying him off & preparing to dress him when he shot a stream straight up to my face. Luckily, I closed my mouth a split second before this little present hit me in the chin. What fun!

These two are from last night's baths. The Hibbetts & Ezzells gave them these adorable hooded towels. Jake is a little unsure about being a cow.Mallory is a cute little chickie! The babies have both started smiling more in the last few days, especially in their sleep. Please don't leave any comments telling me that it's just from gas. I don't care if that is the case - it's still super cute! These two pics are off topic, but I'll go ahead & include them in this post. Rae & Hattie both stopped by yesterday...and then Michelle came to visit today.Jake & Mallory have also learned what the Chamblee family's favorite evening pastime is: watching TV. They don't seem quite as into it as the rest of us. Pops' lap makes a great lounge chair for Jake.Mallory prefers Daddy's chest. Here's another first for me. I've learned to hold two babies at once. Double the sweetness! The twins' first time to have their nails filed was very necessary. Those things are sharp! Neither of them seemed to mind too much, so I was thankful for that.Jake was ashamed of the shape his nails were in.We look forward to many more firsts!

Welcomed in Love

The twins have been welcomed by lots of family & friends since their arrival, & we have tried to get pictures of them with everyone. I know of a couple of people that we missed, so my apologies if your picture doesn't show up here. These are not in order because Blogger is not cooperating as well as I would like & I don't want to take the time to mess with it. I tried loading this first one several times, & it refuses to load without turning it sideways. Sorry Riley!
